 2022 Preview 


       Alma Bryant finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Alma Bryant finished eighth in Class 7A region one with a 1-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Hurricanes last playoff victory came during the 1999 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Alma Bryant averaged scoring just 11.1 points a game.

       Since 2010, the Alma Bryant football program has struggled with a record of 25-97.

       Over the past 24 seasons, Alma Bryant has not won much with a record of 84-166. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 29th in Class 7A and 327th in the AHSAA. The Hurricanes have struggled on the football field with only four winning seasons during this time. Their last winning season was 2003.




       The Hurricanes are led by head coach Bart Sessions who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 2-8 record in his first season at Alma Bryant. The Hurricanes have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Sessions.

       Coach Sessions' overall record as a head football coach in nine season stands at 54-47 (53.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Sessions' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times and won two region championships.

       The key to this season will be for the Hurricanes to stay healthy if they have any hopes of making the playoffs. The starting 22 players will be good but finding depth will be a key.

       The Alma Bryant Hurricanes will play in Class 7A region one during the 2022 season.

       The Hurricanes enter the 2022 season in the middle of a 8 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

       It will be an uphill battle for the Hurricanes if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region one this season. After just 2 wins last year, Alma Bryant will be hoping to become more competitive in the region.

       The Hurricanes open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Holtville on Friday, August 26 at Hurricane Stadium. Last year the Holtville Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 5A region four. The Bulldogs lost in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs to Pike Road by a score of 37-0.

       Alma Bryant and Holtville have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Hurricanes have a 2-0-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in with
